Our kayak tours are a great way to experience the beauty of Lake Wanaka, whether you are staying in the town for one night or longer.
Our guides are local, who retell the myths and legends of the Wanaka area. There is plenty of opportunity to take photos or just admire the Southern Alps from your comfortable kayak on the lake.
Bookings are essential. See bottom of this page on how to book.
We have two tours to choose from, visiting different areas of Lake Wanaka.
Alpine Vista
Our tour begins with a short scenic drive to Glendhu Bay, where we start our voyage of some of the beautiful bays of Lake Wanaka. See the Glendhu Bluffs and the rugged landscape, dominated by Mt Aspiring, which lends its name to the largest national park in New Zealand. Stop for refreshments in a secluded spot. This is a spectacular location to enjoy the tranquil nature of kayaking.
Departure: 9am outside Wanaka i-site (also known as the Log Cabin)
Duration: Half Day
Price: $115 per person
Includes: refreshments (tea/coffee/snacks)
Iti Kahurangi (Little Treasure) Kayak Adventure
Get ready to experience the ultimate kayak adventure, paddling though the ancient glacial waters to the Jewel of Lake Wanaka, Ruby Island.
Discover how the ice ages and local mythical tales have shaped our landscape, as retold by our guides.
There is free time to explore Ruby Island, where you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the Southern Alps towering over Lake Wanaka. Follow the short walking track and see native New Zealand plants. Relax and enjoy one of the most amazing spots Lake Wanaka has to offer. After refreshments we paddle back to our lake front location.
Departures: daily 10am and 2pm
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Price: $75 per person
Includes: refreshments
